Feeding & Nutrition Programs
India’s position in the 2022 Global Hunger Index is a cause for concern, as it ranks 107th out of 121 countries, indicating a “serious” level of hunger with a score of 29.1.
At MCKS Food for the Hungry Foundation Karnataka, we ensure that hungry families receive much-needed food rations/groceries. This has been an ongoing project for several years. Additionally, we started the ‘Happy Oota’ chapati project during the height of the Pandemic, which provides semi-cooked chapatis for the hungry public.
As per Niti Aayog data, there were nearly 3.5 lakh moderately malnourished children and about 8,000 severely malnourished children in the state as of August 2021.
We have started a project to address this by distribution of nutritional supplements to pregnant women and lactating mothers.
Prioritizing neonatal healthcare, we are a supporter of the ‘Human Milk Bank,’ also known as the Comprehensive Lactation Management Centre (CLMC).

Education & Livelihood Programs
According to the National Achievement Survey, a staggering 50 percent of adolescents in India do not complete their secondary education. A 2019-20 survey indicated that Net Enrolment Ratio in Karnataka dropped to 39% in higher secondary level.
Education & livelihood skills are undeniably crucial for the wholistic development of children, playing a pivotal role in their physical, mental, emotional, and social growth. Recognizing the importance of this, we place a strong emphasis in supporting underprivileged children throughout their educational journey.

- We have enabled several skills based and livelihood programs to drive sustainable employment across the state
- The foundation works tirelessly to equip schools and teachers with the necessary tools and infrastructure that enhance the learning experience for children.
- At the grass root level, we distribute free uniforms, cardigans, notebooks and stationery items to students from underprivileged backgrounds.

Wholisitic Wellbeing
India has a demographic advantage; 450 million people or one-third of our population falls in the 10-to-24 age bracket. But to fully realize this advantage, we must empower our youth to deal with emotional & mental health challenges. An important wellness measure that alleviates stress and promotes peace, balance and calmness in children is meditation.
We have focused extensively on promoting meditation and brain exercises in school children. Our permanent projects include:
- Super Brain Yoga – an ancient yogic exercise that is designed to activate, energize and strengthen the brain cells. This powerful technique has shown to enhance focus, creativity and mental agility amongst children. Super Brain Yoga has played a crucial role in assisting children with ADHD and autism.
- Meditation for Physical, Emotional & Mental Well-Being – We teach students (above the age of 10 years) a simple 15-20 minute guided meditation that has shown to reduce stress and anxiety, support positive thinking, and elevate levels of joy, happiness and peace.
